How AI is helping me on my quest for 100 Submissions in 2025

After falling a bit behind pace in July due to summer vacations and family time, I have hit the submission queue hard in August. As of today (8/21) I have submitted my work 75 times this year, a full month ahead of schedule.

My goal remains 100 and once I hit that number my reward for the remainder of the year is to not monitor submission calls each day. What I will do is back off the gas a bit for the next couple weeks and focus more on writing.

What has helped me the most this month has been leveraging ChatGPT to find places to send my work. In seconds the AI gives me places that are open to cold submissions, contests that have upcoming deadlines, specific calls or mentions that tie to my body of work. It works because the AI is looking EVERYWHERE at once, whereas I am limited to the sites I already know and have time to browse.

Where I’m submitting:

  • Little Theatre of Alexandria, Scream Scene Brooklyn, Steppenwolf Theater, Denver Quarterly, Winters Theater, Winter Cabaret, John DeSotelle Studio Series Short Play Festival, City Theatre Miami and Lumos 2026
